Slim as a HHVM extention

I'm doing some research about HHVM and how it could improve my slim application. I've been thinking of moving away from Slim to Phalcon PHP because of it's. However, I don't like the fact it's written in a different language may it be C or Zephir. Watching this talk at the International PHP conference about HHVM got me thinking: Wouldn't it be possible to port Slim to a HHVM extension which might have a major impact in performance? An extention can be written in pure PHP (which makes it easier to maintain) and would be included as library in the HHVM runtime.

Info about HHVM extensions can be found here (
