Hi Everyone,

After a brief downtime due to vacation and health issues, I'm back and almost ready to roll out version 1.6.0. I've pushed what will be version 1.6.0 into the release-1.6.0 branch on GitHub. Grab it now and give it a go. It's very stable and has vastly improved unit test coverage. If no major issues are found, I'll merge the release-1.6.0 code into master later this week.

I'm excited to finally get 1.6.0 out the door. This version is a major under-the-hood architectural change and lays the foundation for many new and exciting features to build upon. Stay tuned!

Awsm ;) can't wait, Josh... yeah, it's a bummer being sick and trying to get last minute patches, changes done to code, it's like trying to write a calm haiku after drinking a triple-shot cafe mocha, with extra whip and chocolate... er... oh that's what I had this a.m. :P thanks, Josh for the update - looking forward to it ;).

@Bill haha. I need one of those this morning, too. Coffee just isn't cutting it.

Thanks for the great work, Josh. You gotta have a beer to rejuvenate yourself, once in a while. :-).

Is there a document that outlines what is changed from 1.5 to 1.6 and how to upgrade from 1.5 to 1.6, any coding changes necessary, etc?

Thanks again and have a good one!

@Kishore Yes, I'll be sure to write a blog post with upgrade instructions. Briefly, you may need to update your app's:

Aside from these few issues, everything else is backwards compatible.

    Thanks, Josh.

3rd one is a bummer to me. i can't easily upgrade to 5.2 in our complex infrastructure.
So I will have to stay with 1.5 for now :-)

@Kishore Oh well. I can only support legacy PHP installs for so long :) Trying my best to keep the transition slow and easy. I have a few client sites still stuck on 5.1 due to host limitations.

Yep, understood :-). Can't keep sticking to old hell!
But lot of people have this limitation, I believe.

    Keep up the great work!

This might be the most appropriate place to post this first. We will be removing static methods/variables from all Views in Slim-Extras, we will also be re-writing them to be more consistent as method names seem to change in different Views.

This will be documented and it shouldn't be difficult to upgrade existing apps, we might keep in old static methods/variable for a few versions then deprecate them later on once most people have transitioned.

Guys, when will 1.6 be released as a stable one? Is all testing done already?

Eager to download and upgrade the existing 1.5, which is already in our prod :-)

    Thanks, Josh.

Would like to read the updates you were going to write about the new release.
Also, it would be helpful to highlight the changes and updates in the documentation as well.

If you could write whatever you were going to write on the updates / fixes / enhancements in the new version, that would be great.

Also, would be really helpful for all early version adopters to see highlighted text of
what is new, changed, etc within the new version documentation.

Thanks and appreciate the great work you guys have been doing!
